Global Vipassana Pagoda is the largest free-standing stone dome pagoda in world, located in Gorai Mumbai. The
tallest point of
the structure is at 96.12 meters. The pagoda is a copy of Myanmar pagoda named Shwedagon Pagoda. Inside the massive dome there is meditation centre. There is also a smaller meditation centre open to public besides the main dome, where they teach you certain meditation techniques.
There is a replica of Ashoka stumb in the same complex. Also, there are painting depicting the life of Gautama Buddha. Also, there is an auditorium which shows film on how the pagoda came into existence.
To visit the pagoda one needs to take a ferry from Borivali’s Gorai creek, it’s the same ferry which goes to Esselworld. It cost Rs 50 two-way. The entry to the pagoda is free. It is a nice
tourist spot which one can visit in couple of hours.
